Adults Living with a Mental Health Condition Support Group - Davenport
NAMI Connection is a free recovery support group for adults living with a mental health condition. 2nd Tuesday of each month from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. This group is held in-person at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Room 208, 2136 Brady Street, Davenport. Confidential. Walk-Ins Welcome. WHAT YOU’LL GAIN: By sharing your experiences in a safe and confidential setting, you will gain hope and develop relationships. The group encourages empathy, productive discussion and a sense of community. This group will help you to: ~See the individual first, not the condition ~Recognize that mental illnesses are medical illnesses that have environmental triggers ~Understand that mental illness are traumatic events ~Aim for better coping skills ~Find strength in sharing experiences ~Reject stigma and not tolerate discrimination ~Not judge anyone’s pain ~Forgive ourselves and reject guilt ~Embrace humor as healthy ~Accept that we can not solve every problem NAMI Support Groups are unique because they follow a structured model to ensure you and others in the group have an opportunity to be heard and to get what you need.
